SBI statement to Excel
If you bank with State Bank of India, the statement you have in hand is often a PDF: an e-statement from your inbox, or a file someone forwarded for a loan or tax file. Drop that SBI PDF below and you get a spreadsheet with every row checked against SBI's own running balance, without the file leaving your phone or computer.
Convert your SBI statement
Private by design: your PDF is read by your own browser. It is never uploaded, and nothing is stored on a server. The password, if you type one, is used once to open the file and then forgotten.
Text-based PDF, up to 25 MB and 300 pages. On a computer you can also drop the file here.

Always compare the converted file with your original statement before using it for tax filing, loans or audits. The converted file is not an official bank document.
How to download your SBI statement
OnlineSBI can produce the statement itself in a spreadsheet format, so try that first if you can sign in.
- Sign in to OnlineSBI (onlinesbi.sbi.bank.in) with your own username and password. Type the address yourself rather than following links in messages.
- Open the account statement option for the savings or current account you need.
- Pick the period. OnlineSBI says you can generate the statement for any date range, or for a chosen month and year.
- Choose the format. SBI's page says the statement can be viewed online, printed, or downloaded as an Excel or PDF file.
If you can sign in, the Excel download from OnlineSBI is the bank's own export and needs no conversion. This converter is for the cases where all you have is the PDF, such as an emailed e-statement, a statement printed to PDF by someone else, or an old statement saved years ago.
How we read a SBI statement
A typical SBI account statement PDF uses the columns below. Layouts differ between account types and channels, so treat this as a guide; the reader also works when headings are worded differently.
| Column in the PDF | Column in your spreadsheet |
|---|---|
| Txn Date | Date |
| Value Date | Value Date |
| Description | Description |
| Ref No./Cheque No. | Reference |
| Debit | Debit |
| Credit | Credit |
| Balance | Balance |
- Dates such as "1 Apr 2026" and "01/04/2026" are both read as day first.
- UPI and NEFT narrations in SBI statements often run over two or three lines. Those lines are joined back into one Description cell, so each transaction stays on one spreadsheet row.
- The "Ref No./Cheque No." heading is frequently printed over two lines; both lines are treated as one heading.
- A "Balance B/F" (brought forward) line at the top is used as the starting point of the balance check and is not exported as a transaction.
- Lakh-style amounts such as 1,23,456.78 become plain numbers in Excel, so you can add them up straight away.
Common problems
The PDF asks for a password
The password is set by SBI. It is usually explained in the email that carried the statement or on SBI's help page. Type it in the box that appears; we never see it, and it is forgotten as soon as the file is open.
A UPI description looks cut short
We join every wrapped line, but if SBI itself abbreviated the narration in the PDF, the missing words are not in the file. Compare the Description cell with the PDF line to be sure.
One row fails the balance check
Open your PDF at that date. A transaction split across a page break, or a reversal printed next to the original entry, is the usual cause. The row is highlighted so you can see exactly where the running balance stops adding up.
My statement is a branch printout or a scanned passbook
Scanned pages are images, not text, and are not supported yet. Download a fresh PDF or Excel copy from OnlineSBI instead.
The file has hundreds of pages
Very long statements can be slow on older phones. Generate shorter date ranges in OnlineSBI, or use a computer.
FAQ
Can I get an SBI statement in Excel without converting?
Yes. SBI states that OnlineSBI can download the statement as an Excel file. Use this converter when you only have the PDF.
Does it work for SBI current accounts as well as savings accounts?
It works for text-based SBI account statements that have a balance column. If your layout is unusual, choose "SBI" under Bank layout or try "Generic".
Is my SBI statement uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is read by your own browser, and there is no server that could receive it.
